- RE: New Thoughts on Doc Engine
-
-
- Thinking more about all the ideas set forth for the Document Engine metaphore,
- I tend to agree that MacApp is NOT suited to this particular implementation we
- have dreamed of.
-
- One of MacApp's greatest pluses is the amount of standard interface
- implementation already built into it. Most of the information engines we
- discussed wouldn't have any interface... they would simply take commands and
- raw data and return... (styled, pretty, your-choice-here) data. The Document
- engine would display the data, accept commands, dispatch commands, receive
- info, etc... Perhaps MacApp could be used to write the Document engine, but
- it's not suited to data engines.
-
- Apple, is this what you mean by 'System 7-studly' applications? Any comments
- on our thought processes so far?
-
- Looking forward to MacApp 2.1 (without even getting ahold of 2.0 Final yet...),
- and to reading more comments on the Document Engine...
